History;
The being that would come to be known as Lawbreaker is a Nomad, the mysterious wandering race that appears and disappears across the universe. Unknown to the universe at large, the Nomads came into existence when one of the Four Horrors that conquered the universe was battled. When its mind was destroyed, its immortal body's cells began to split into the Nomads. The Nomads sided with the Four Heroes that eventually ended the reign of the remaining Horrors and were then left to their own devices. Thanks to the powers of Freedom, the ability to instantaneously and effortlessly travel anywhere and Expression, the ability to wordlessly communicate through images and concepts at any distance the Nomads had little in the way of society and simply roamed as they pleased. However early Nomads took on the responsibility of removing the Four Horror's other remnants, be their weapons, beasts or races. As such, for a few million years Nomads were fierce warriors that appear in the mythology of all species, silent masked beings that did not communicate with others and simply performed great feats. Although they had eternally long lifespans and no natural enemies, when a Nomad was tired of the universe they would use Freedom to go 'Somewhere Else' and disappear forever. Usually, they left behind a single descendant, asexually forming a new Nomad with the parent consciously crafting their characteristics.
Despite being created a billion years after the defeat of the Four Horrors, the one that would be known as Lawbreaker was only a second-generation Nomad, their parent being one of the only two remaining originals created from the Horror's corpse. The parent, largely known amongst Nomads by some variation of the concept of 'Champion' was the only Nomad that still believed it a requirement for Nomads to be warriors and had over its incredibly long life remained vigilant of threats to the Nomads and the universe at large. Over time as Nomads who had not witnessed the old times became the majority, Champion became 'Relic' and was largely shunned for their beliefs. Eventually no longer able to handle the isolation Champion produced the one that would be known as Lawbreaker- known to Champion as 'Inheritor'.' They were together only briefly. Champion chose to go Somewhere Else very shortly afterwards, leaving Inheritor with a simple message that there would always be a need for warriors and that was Inheritor's reason to be- carry on the will to fight that had been lost.
The abandoned Inheritor was not outright shunned by other Nomads, but Inheritor had been crafted to be a warrior and did not fit in. Slowly becoming isolated by volition, Inheritor had little contact with the others and no friends save one- the only descendant of the oldest Nomad, known to Inheritor as 'Companion'. They spent most of their time observing other races in the universe and were the first Nomad to realise their sentience and decipher the (to a Nomad) alien mannerisms of communication they had. When their shared this information with Companion the two had a disagreement- Inheritor wished to become involved with them as playthings (largely due to their own loneliness) whilst Companion saw their own worth. Their arguing eventually lead to blows- Inheritor started the only fight between two Nomads in history. The battle awakened Companion's own warrior instincts, the distant heritage of the Horror that had birthed the race. Unlike Inheritor who had always possessed a sense of this instinct, Companion was swallowed by the impulse to destroy. Becoming a new potential Horror, they defeated Inheritor with their wild ferocity and departed to test their new strength. Companion fought the Supreme Sage number 5 Whadza Matah and their elite squad, soundly defeating them. Inheritor, now convinced their friend had ceased to exist was forced to kill them to preserve the gentle-hearted philosophy of their lost friend. Whadza survived but his squad was slaughtered.
Now the first Nomad to kill another, an unprecedented thing was done. The Nomads created their first and only law, which Inheritor had retroactively broken. They were, from now on and forever, Lawbreaker. The decision was made to eject them entirely from the race. Lawbreaker, correctly predicting this, chose to reproduce before the trial was completed and left behind a child he gave the task of being better than him.
He was severely injured by his judges to 'hobble' him in a manner that reduced Lawbreaker's combat ability. In particular, Lawbreaker's strength rapidly deteriorated without constant exercise. More critically, one inserted into his head caused him to struggle to access his warrior type instincts. Lawbreaker could not be stripped of the innate powers of Freedom and Expression, but if they used them they would be executed.
Discarded into space, Lawbreaker ended up on a lonesome planet from which they could not escape without Freedom. They spent a long time there, growing weaker and not inclined to prevent a slow wasting death. As time passed the planet was visited by a single wandering young girl, Lyra. An intergalactic noble who yearned for adventure, she found it in Lawbreaker. She spent a great deal of time teaching them to communicate and her friendship convinced Lawbreaker to maintain their body enough to live on. She referred to Lawbreaker as a 'he' and Lawbreaker began to use masculine terms to describe himself.
Still traumatised by his past he remained on his lonely planet, but was frequently visited by Lyra. She in time was married to Emperor Other Wise and gave birth to twin children, World and Where. Upon meeting them, he finally decided to leave his planet and was given the position of personal bodyguard to Lyra and her children, though he usually referred to himself as the children's nanny. The emperor, impressed by his strength, offered to make him one of the Supreme Sages (the elite symbols of the empire's power) but Lawbreaker turned it down. However he did accept a number of clandestine missions.
Eventually, Lyra began to doubt her husband's dedication to peace and started to see him as the tyrant he really was. She trusted only Lawbreaker with the knowledge that she wanted to run away with the children somewhere no one could follow them- and that she wanted her closest, most trusted friend to come with her. It was really all he ever wanted, a quiet life with Lyra and the children he loved.
When Lyra mysteriously disappeared shortly after this decision, leaving the children behind, Lawbreaker assumed Emperor Other Wise was responsible and in a fit of rage attacked him. After being beaten senseless, as punishment for his crime he was sent to the same place he had accepted missions to incarcerate others- the nigh mythical inescapable prison planet, Planet X.
Lawbreaker became the first person to escape and wears the prison uniform to this day. Since the existence of Planet X is a highly classified secret, it appears to be a unique space suit to anyone low ranked in the empire, but instantly causes panic amongst those who recognise it.
Seeking to avenge Lyra, he became a notable rebellion warrior but eventually lost heart after he found he didn't have the mental strength to fight World and Where when they became involved in a battle. Caught between love and hate, Lawbreaker left the spotlight and went to an unimportant planet called Rhengi to be quietly out of the way.
He joined the Rhengi Resistance, a gang that used rebellion as an excuse for crime, as he allowed himself to deteriorate once again. Feeling pointless and powerless, he started to waste away and didn't seem to much mind.
(( From a story telling perspective this is where backstory ends and Lawbreaker enters the narrative as a supporting character. ))
When the young boy Vordan stopped off on Rhengi on his way to the first location of The Pilgrimage, he interfered with a raid on an Imperial storehouse by the Rhengi Resistance. As the boy beat a large group of the gang, Lawbreaker was sent to personally deal with him. They fought, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of an Imperial commander, seeking to arrest both. Vordan and Lawbreaker defeated the commander in a short bout and decided to end their fight there, although Vordan commented that Lawbreaker was much stronger than him. Vordan was brought to the Rhengi Resistance headquarters and learned that they were stockpiling what they stole for their own purposes, instead of supplying the rebellion proper. He revealed this and claimed that if the people of Rhengi wanted to rebel, they had to do it themselves, with real purpose. With the loss of public support, the Resistance fled and Lawbreaker abandoned the group, claiming they were no longer a cushy place to hide out. In truth, Lawbreaker was inspired to fight for what he believed in again.
Lawbreaker had been impressed by Vordan's ability to make a difference on Rhengi and realising his skills had gotten rusty, he joined an underground fight circle to sharpen his strength. He spent some time as a part of it and quickly became qualified to compete in a champion tournament, where he once again met Vordan, competing for similar reasons. The pair met in the semi-finals and Lawbreaker was surprised by how he was now weaker than his opponent and quit by hopping out of the ring when he realised he was no match for the younger fighter. He acted as Vordan's second in the finals and his advice allowed Vordan to defeat the stronger opponent. Because of this, when Lawbreaker went to leave after the victory celebration, Vordan attacked him and was defeated through Lawbreaker's superior strategies. Realising his new friend had been showing Lawbreaker his own strength, Lawbreaker left nonetheless.

Race;
Lawbreaker is a Nomad, an ancient and bizarre species that exists apart from the rest of the universe. Nomads are completely asexual and are not a DNA based life form, though any other particulars defy logical understanding.
All Nomads wear highly individualised and unique outfits and masks- they consider their mask to be a reflection of their personality and change them when they feel they have become a new person.
Nomads all possess the ability Freedom, which allows them to travel to any location instantly with only a thought and the ability Expression which allows them to communicate over any distance instantly between other Nomads.
Nomads have no language, communicating by sending concepts and images to one another directly. This is not telepathy. They have no influence over the minds of others and cannot read anything that is not sent to them. They are fully capable of lying. They have no names for anything, including each other, as their method of conversation makes the topic clear constantly. However, when referring to each other they occasionally use a concept to identify that particular Nomad in context. These concepts are always relative to the 'speaker'. Due to this form of communication, most Nomads have no idea other beings without Expression are even capable of communicating and it is a commonly held assumption that Nomads are the only sentient species in the universe.
Nomads have no concept of government or even really society. Thanks to Freedom and Expression they historically did not require any of the things that society typically form to provide (i.e safety, shelter, sustenance, socialisation). Due to the very small population, all Nomads know each other intimately and communicate often, not minding any amount of distance between them as distance is meaningless to a Nomad. There are about one billion Nomads at any given time and they usually produce a single offspring in their lifetime. As once cells of a singular body, Nomads can fuse together. Doing so is irreversible and results in an immediate, intense inscrease of power. The process erases one of the Nomad's minds.
Nomads are functionally eternal, age irrelevant to them. Their bodies do not degrade with time and no single part of their part is vital, allowing them to survive even just as a head. Typically, when a Nomad has grown tired of living they decide to use Freedom to go 'somewhere else', a place of mystery from which none have ever returned.
All Nomads are born with the high degrees of S.C.A potential that develops naturally. A novice Nomad is comparable to a Seven Supreme Sage, the greatest elite of the universe.
